meet the founder

Liisa Kukk

I'm Liisa Kukk, the founder of SEED Education Strategies + Solutions. With more than 20 years of experience in special education and a passion for supporting learners with special needs, I started SEED to provide tailored academic support and foster an inclusive learning environment.

My background includes more than 20 years of hands-on experience, a BSc (H), BEd, OCT, and a Master of Professional Education in Special Education, as well as additional advanced qualifications in special education, guidance and career education, and ESL.

The idea for SEED sprouted early in my teaching career. I spent a lot of time – over ten years, actually – working individually with students before, during, and after school, helping them build their learning skills and subject knowledge. When I decided to start my own consultancy and leave the classroom in 2011, some families from my original school had already been asking whether I could help their children learn how to learn. It really was a natural progression.

When I think about it, this passion for supporting others has been with me for most of my life. In high school and in university I was a respite worker for a family whose child had a physical disability. I built a strong relationship with this child and family, and this has been a hallmark of my work as the owner of SEED Education Strategies + Solutions, too.

In fact, growing a strong relationship with my students is part of the foundation of SEED. The trust that ensues means that my students become more confident in taking academic risks, whether it be with learning a new math strategy or writing an essay about an unfamiliar topic. This growth in confidence is one of the things I most love to see: it’s rewarding for everyone.

In 2018, I received my Master of Education, which I completed because I wanted to better serve my students, their families, and my community.

With a focus on Special Education, I am better equipped to support students who have learning differences, by tailoring my strategies to fit their needs, by advocating either with them or on their behalf with teachers, schools and School Boards, and by providing bespoke and generalized learning materials for parents and teachers.

Today, I am broadening SEED Education’s scope by reaching employers and businesses. Those who are aiming to improve the IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility) aspects of their businesses are a perfect fit for SEED Education.

Using a variety of formats, including on-demand and live webinars as well as in-person seminars, I help businesses and employers ensure that they are using best practices to work with their neurodivergent employees.

My expertise allows me to create materials and sessions that address a variety of learning needs, teaching strategies, learning strategies, and mental health and wellbeing strategies.

I look forward to meeting you, your children, and your employees so that we can work together to grow their confidence in learning and in life!

1% for the Pups

SEED Education Strategies + Solutions is proud to have collaborated for eight years with National Service Dogs, and to have had NSD Uno working with our students! Uno is now retired, but still enjoys meeting students at our home office.

National Service Dogs is a non-profit organization that specifically breeds and trains dogs for work with people who have autism. They also train dogs for roles in PTSD support and Canine Assisted Intervention.

Because of the positive effects of Uno’s work with our learners, SEED Education has created a way to give back.

1% for the Pups is our version of 1% for the Planet, where SEED Education will annually give 1% of our earnings to NSD. In this way, we carry on Uno’s legacy and contribute to the future impacts of NSD’s Service Dogs program.
